FAQs

How much does split system installation cost?

Cost depends on system type, capacity, and how much design work the space needs. A straightforward wall-hung unit costs less than a fully integrated ducted or bulkhead system. We give a fixed, itemised quote after an on-site look, so there are no surprises once work starts.

What’s actually included in the installation?

Every quote covers the unit(s), all fittings and refrigerant lines, electrical connection, and a full system test and handover. We’ll walk you through the controls before we leave. Anything outside standard scope, like extra structural work, is flagged in the quote up front, not added afterward.

Do I need a permit or compliance certificate to install air conditioning?

Most residential split-system installations do not require a building permit. However, all installation and repair work must be completed by appropriately registered and licensed tradespeople. The required compliance certificate will be provided within the prescribed timeframe. Any electrical work must also be completed by a licensed electrician, with a Certificate of Electrical Safety issued within the required timeframe. We manage these compliance requirements and provide the relevant documentation as part of the job.

How long does installation take?

Most single or multi-split installs are completed in 1 to 2 days. Larger ducted or bulkhead systems in new builds are scheduled around the broader construction timeline, and we’ll give you a clear date range at quote stage.

Which system is better for my home: split, ducted, or bulkhead?

It comes down to your layout and how the home is used. Ducted and bulkhead suit whole-home comfort and new builds or renovations where planning ahead is possible. Wall-hung splits suit single rooms or tighter budgets. We’ll give you a straight recommendation on-site, not a sales pitch toward the most expensive option.

Can I install a split system myself?

No. Installation involves refrigerant handling and electrical work that legally requires licensed trades in Australia, and an unlicensed install will void the manufacturer’s warranty. It’s also one of the most common causes of poor performance and early breakdowns we get called out to fix.

What size air conditioner do I need?

Room size, ceiling height, insulation, window orientation, and how many rooms you’re covering all affect the correct capacity (kW). Undersizing is the single biggest cause of a system that runs constantly but never quite cools the room. It’s something we calculate properly on-site, not estimate over the phone.

What’s the difference between inverter and non-inverter systems?

Inverter systems adjust their output to match demand, which means steadier temperatures and lower running costs. Non-inverter systems cycle fully on and off, which is cheaper upfront but less efficient and less comfortable over time. All the brands we install (Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Rinnai) are inverter technology.

How long do heating and cooling systems last?

A well-installed, well-maintained system from a reputable brand typically runs 12 to 15+ years. Installation quality and refrigerant line care matter as much as the brand. A premium unit poorly installed will fail early.

What’s the best time of year to install?

Spring and autumn are the quietest periods, which usually means faster scheduling. Booking ahead of summer or winter peak season also avoids the wait times that come with everyone needing a system at once.

Do you offer free quotes?

Yes. Every job starts with a free on-site consultation and a detailed, fixed quote, with no obligation.
